Burke Lake Park Maternity Session | Burke, Virginia | Jenny + Cristian

From the moment I saw Jenny and Cristian at Burke Lake Park for their sunrise maternity session, I knew this session would be magical. Cristian was so outgoing and goofy and Jenny was down to earth and the sweetest person ever. They were so natural in front of the camera, and the whole session was very intimate.
The air was crisp. It was one of the first fall-like days of 2020. Several people were waiting in line at the boating house, getting ready to go out on the water before the sun had even risen. Others were on the fishing pier getting their rods ready. It was a relatively quiet morning, and aside from the occassional breeze that gave me goose bumps, everything was perfect.
As the sun got higher in the sky, it cast a beautiful orange glow behind Jenny and Cristian. I think they were far too busy enjoying the moment to notice how amazing the sunrise looked. Something about watching the sun come up at a body of water (lake, ocean etc.) is so pristine and magical.
Every time I looked at the back of my camera, I was elated. They looked so happy and natural! Two major goals I aim to achieve at every session. I love capturing moments as they happen, but I also love using intentional posing to "create" moments. They trusted me each time I asked them to do something that felt unnatural, and the results were more than worth it.
Dear Jenny and Cristian,
Thank you so much for trusting me to capture this extremely special moment in your life. Mia is so blessed to have you as parents. As a couple, you bring joy, goofiness, confidence, kindness, and patience - all very important virtues that Mia can look up to. I know you'll be great parents. I can't wait to hear about the moment you hold her for the first time. It's going to be the best feeling ever! Until then, enjoy your last few days of kicks and waddles.
